We meet on the second Wednesday of each month in Roughton Village Hall, which is situated on Chapel Road, Roughton, NR11 8PA (opposite to the junction to Metton). Our meetings start at 7:30 p.m. – teas and coffees are served from 7pm. We have a thriving WI with numbers limited to 50, which is the maximum our hall can accommodate, and we have a waiting list for new members.
Guests are always welcome and are asked to pay a fee of £3 towards the WI expenses. Guests can attend as a visitor for a maximum of three times a year.
We understand that not everyone has transport, and we like to do our bit for the environment, so encourage car sharing between our members. If you would like to take advantage of this, please contact a member of the committee, who will arrange for you to be picked up by someone who lives near to you. As car parking space is limited, please fill up from the back of the car park first.
What do we do at our meetings ?
During the year we have speakers on various subjects chosen by our members and enjoy some social evenings, outings and fund raising events. There is also a monthly competition if you wish to take part. The Speaker will select 3 winners. When there is no speaker, please bring pennies to vote for your top three choices.
At our meetings a member is assigned for:-
- Birthday Posies: for those with birthdays that month - just a few flowers, nothing elaborate. For the months where we need more than three birthday posies, two or more people are asked to provide them
- Raffle: duties include selling the raffle tickets and providing 3 small raffle prizes (nothing too expensive)
- Hostess: meet, greet and give a vote of thanks at the end
- Tea and coffee: bring milk and biscuits and make sure that it is available from 7pm
N.B.
If any member is unable to carry out her duties in the designated month, it is usual practice for them to organise a substitute and let a committee member know of the change.
Ad-Hoc Coffee Mornings
Members are invited to volunteer to organise a Charity coffee morning/afternoon at the their home (or they can book the hall) with a charge of £3 for coffee and cake. This can be spontaneous or pre-arranged, and kept simple with just a few of your friends, or more ambitious with members and friends. Our fundraising focus for 2026 is LAMS (Life and MS), followed by 2027 Friends of Cromer Hospital, and 2028 Roughton Scout group.
